PORTLAND, Ore. – Two retail buildings in the Sellwood neighborhood have been demolished to make way for a four-story mixed-use development.

The buildings, covered by the Portland Chronicle in November, were located at Southeast 13th and Spokane. The corner structure was built in 1908, while the other was built in 1926.

The properties sold in November for a total of $1,200,000. The buyer was Spokane 13 Apartments LLC, a subsidiary of VWR Development LLC, registered to Vic Remmers, Walter Remmers and listing Douglas Grim as its registered agent. Both businesses are registered at the Beaverton address home to all of Remmers’ companies as well as Dennis Sackhoff‘s Urban Development Group, Arbor Custom Homes, Creston Homes and others.

The demolition was approved in November. Everett Custom Homes served as the contractor, while Mike Coyle of Faster Permits was the official applicant.

In place of the former structures Remmers plans to build a four-story mixed use building with three floors of 30 units and ground-floor units for commercial lease.

The applicant on the four-story complex is Richard Rapp of TVA Architects, which is registered to Robert L. Thompson and Marc Labadie and lists Jonathan Bennett as its registered agent.
