A house in the Sellwood neighborhood has been demolished, and is being replaced by an apartment building.
The house, a 672-square-foot single-family home built in 1941, was located at 8074 SE 6th. It was purchased last fall. Records show that Donald E. Pollock was the owner shortly after the sale. The sale price was $250,000.
Several weeks after the purchase, an application for a demolition permit was submitted. The house was demolished over the summer.
The current owner is Mark Madden. In place of the demolished house, Madden is constructing a 2-story, 11-unit apartment building. The building will have no on-site parking.
Madden’s WDC Properties is a well-known Portland development firm. Other current Madden developments include a new apartment building at 1423 SW Columbia in Goose Hollow. That development required demolition of a 1500-square-foot, historic 130-year-old home.
The Oregonian reported that the plans initially described a three-story, 18-unit apartment building on the site. Now, however, permit records describe plans for a 23-unit four-story apartment building. No on-site parking has been proposed.
