PORTLAND, Ore. – A house built in 1924 in the Buckman neighborhood is under a demolition delay period as a multifamily apartment structure rises five stories directly adjacent to the single-family home.
The house, located at 123 SE 27th Ave., is 1,823 square feet in size. It is part of a 13,810-square-foot lot that was sold by Lars Topelmann to Dennis Sackhoff‘s Urban Development Group in 2013 for $1,050,000. It had previously sold in 1995 for $95,000, according to county data.
The demolition permit lists the house as “possibly SRO” (single room occupancy).
Another portion of the lot was previously home to a 1,251-square-foot structure demolished in late 2014. The Portland Chronicle previously reported incorrectly that the 1924 house had already been demolished.
The rest of the property is now home to a five-story apartment building with 50 residential units and ground floor parking.
Adjacent to the Sackhoff-owned house pending demolition is a 1928 house, the only remaining single-family residence on the block.
The demolition delay expires March 30.
