PORTLAND, Ore. – The second of two new skinny houses in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Southeast Portland has gone on sale for $70,000 higher than the price its identical neighbor sold for in June.
The house, located at 1356 SE 33rd Ave., was built on the site of a demolished 1894 house that sold to development company CKW Construction LLC, registered in Milwaukie, in 2014 for $512,000.
The demolition took place under the old regulations that allowed a waiver of the now-mandatory 35-day delay if the developer applied to replace the house with one, and only one, new residence. CKW Construction LLC applied to do so and therefore bypassed the delay and notification requirement.
However, as is now evident, more than one residence was built on the property.
On April 6 Movoto recorded a listing of the first house for $749,900. One month later on May 7 the website recorded a pending sale for the same price, as reported by the Portland Chronicle in June.
That figure, however, turned out to be lower than the final sale price, which was $763,000, the county recorded at the end of June.
Since then the second new dwelling has risen next door to the first skinny house and appears to be identical in design.
As of Sept. 8 the second skinny house was actively listed for $839,000.
CKW Construction LLC is registered to Amanda Williams.
