The house, located at 1024 NW 19th Ave., was built in 1904 and occupies a 3,500-square-foot lot. The house alone is 2,258-square-feet in size and takes up about half the lot.

Located in an RH high-density residential zone, the house is sandwiched between two five-story multifamily buildings and is the only single-family residence on the block.

The adjacent buildings were constructed in 1912 and 1915.

On March 18 the city received an application for a narrow six-story multifamily building with 21 residential units and no onsite parking. The application does not state whether the proposal would involve demolition of the house, but given the already-narrow lot and the need to fill it to achieve maximum a floor area ratio allowing a higher height, it seems nearly guaranteed.

The property has not been transferred since a 2004 sale for $468,500. The current owner is listed as Laura H. O’Brien.
