Located at 2913 SE Stark St. and reported on by the Portland Chronicle in September, the property sold to Dennis Sackhoff‘s Urban Development Group in March for $1,200,000.

The restaurant closed in September while David Mullens of Urban Development Group submitted early plans for an apartment complex.

In November the city received an application for demolition of the 80-year-old structure, with the permit issued the same day.

Starkys Restaurant and Bar is one of several former gay community gathering spaces that have been demolished for Urban Development Group apartment complexes, joining Old Wives’ Tales (demolished for a 69-unit building) and the Egyptian Club — subsequently the Weird Bar — which was razed for 78 units on Southeast Division Street.
