PORTLAND, Ore. – A one-story commercial building was demolished last year, and permits have been filed for new construction.
The property is located on the corner of SE 36th Pl. and Powell in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood. It formerly held a commercial building home to Shamrock Medical.
In April 2013 the city received an application for demolition of the structure. It was razed over the summer.
Complaints were received over the course of two months regarding noise from the demolition, work beginning at 5:45 a.m., and a construction fence blocking the sidewalk.
The lot has been vacant for the past year. A permit was filed in August 2013 for new construction of a two-story office building with an upper-level dental office.
The owner of the property is Liem Do, registered at a Washington address. The applicant for demolition was Lakeview General Construction Inc., and the contractor was Paliy Construction LLC. Both are registered in Washington.
The applicant for new construction is Edward Radulescu of EPR Design, registered in northeast Portland. EPR Design worked on D&C Motorz located at SE 27th and Holgate.
EPR's website includes a rendering of “Powell Blvd. Medical Offices.” Although there is no address confirming its location, a Facebook post includes that this will be the site of “CareOne Dental,” suggesting it is the proposed building at 36th and Powell.
The contractor for the project had not yet been hired when the permits were filed.
