PORTLAND, Ore. – One hundred twenty-six years after it was built in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Southeast Portland, a two-story single-family home has been demolished to make way for new construction.
Located at 3542 SE Taylor St., the house was built in 1890 and sat on a 5,000-square-foot lot. It is located in an R2.5 zone, meaning there could be two units built on the land in future land divisions.
The house sold last fall to Columbia Redevelopment LLC for $320,000. Shortly after the sale a fire occurred, and a few weeks later the house sold again to Everett Custom Homes Inc., registered to Vic Remmers at a Beaverton address.
The sale price was $400,000, which is $80,000 higher than Columbia Redevelopment paid despite the damage from the structure fire.
Five days after the sale was recorded Everett Custom Homes applied for demolition of the house. Dan Williams of permit fast-tracking company Faster Permits was the applicant. The permit was issued Jan. 6 and the home has since been torn down.
The city has not yet received any applications for new construction.
